XREAL AURA - Android XR Glasses That Move the Battery to Your Pocket
A screen floating in front of your eyes is appealing, but the weight of the device on your head has always been the sticking point. XREAL AURA moves that weight into your pocket.

📸 Product Tour
The glasses connect by cable to a compute device about the size of a phone
The mirrored lenses make it look like sunglasses
The temples look slim
The optics inside the lens and the frame structure are visible
🔍 Why It Caught My Eye
Weight-Separating Design
The pocket device handles the battery and processing, so the glasses can concentrate on showing the image. For a device you wear for long stretches, this approach looks sensible.
Android XR
It runs on Google's XR platform, so I'm looking forward to seeing how the app ecosystem develops.
Everyday Design
I like that it aims for a look that doesn't feel out of place when you wear it out.
🤔 What Gives Me Pause
The Burden on Your Bag and Pockets
You have to carry the compute device and the cable along with the glasses, so it isn't fully wire-free.
Price and Release
The release schedule and price in Korea still need to be confirmed.
Actual Field of View and Image Quality
I can only judge the field of view and brightness by trying it myself.
📋 Product Features (Subjective Ratings)
- Design: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
- Portability: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆
- Practicality: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆
- Value for money: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (price unconfirmed)
🛒 Pre-Purchase Checklist
✅ Recommended For
- People who want to watch videos on a big screen while on the move
- People who want to use an XR device in everyday life
❌ Not Recommended For
- People who don't want to carry a cable or a separate device
- People who are sensitive to price
🎯 Final Verdict
Separating the computing to keep the glasses light looks like a realistic compromise. I can only judge how polished it is from reviews after launch, but I like the direction.
