Polaroid x Pokémon - Pokémon Collab Instant Camera

To mark Pokémon's 30th anniversary, a bunch of brands have rolled out collabs, but this one is the one I genuinely want to own. Polaroid teamed up with Pokémon on an instant camera collection that comes in three themes: Pikachu, Poké Ball, and Sylveon. I covered the Polaroid Go Gen3 a while back, but this design hits my taste even harder.

Three people outdoors, each shooting with a different themed camera

Pikachu (yellow), Poké Ball (red/white), and Sylveon (pink) with stickers, each paired with a different film frame
🔍 Why I'm Interested
A completely distinct identity for each character
This isn't just a logo slapped on — the Pikachu-ear flash cover, the Poké Ball-colored body, and Sylveon's pastel tones all translate each character's identity properly into the design.
Even the film frames got attention to detail
Each printed photo's border carries the corresponding character's stickers and colors, so the photo itself becomes a piece of merch. It's impressive that they thought through the "actual output," which most collab products overlook.
That distinct instant-camera feel
In an age flooded with digital photos, a single tangible instant print feels all the more valuable. It even comes with a neck strap, so it works well as outdoor EDC for outings too.
🤔 Things to Consider
Limited-edition supply issues
With collab products, initial stock often sells out fast and resale prices climb. To get one at retail price, you'd probably need to catch it right at launch.
Film cost
For instant cameras, film consumption can end up costing more than the camera itself over time, so it's worth checking the price and availability of the Pokémon-themed film too.
📋 Product Features (Subjective Rating)
- Design: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Portability: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
- Practicality: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆
- Value for Money: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (price unconfirmed)
🛒 Before You Buy
✅ Recommended for
- Pokémon fans or anyone who loves retro-flavored merch
- People who enjoy taking instant photos while traveling or out and about
- Anyone who was already eyeing the Polaroid Go Gen3
❌ Not recommended for
- Anyone prioritizing value for money once film costs are factored in
- Anyone with no interest in the collab/limited-edition resale market
🎯 Final Verdict
Most collab products stop at slapping on a logo, but this one nailed the character-specific design identity all the way down to the film frames. Compared to the Polaroid Go Gen3 I covered before, this one hits a lot harder emotionally, right in my taste.
Pricing and exact release details still need confirming, but if you're a Pokémon fan, this is one release worth keeping an eye on.
